Plan for Your Remodel! Seriously, Plan for It
When it comes time to remodel your bathroom, one of the biggest mistakes that homeowners make is that they do not plan out the entire project. This is a big no-no and can lead to frustration and a headache later on down the road.
When you think about it, everything needs to be planned. If you are heading out to go to an event, you must plan what time to leave, what time to be there by, what time to leave to head home, and more. A bathroom renovation is the same way – you need to know and have some type of plan in place.
Below, we will go over some tips to help you know what exactly to add to your planning list.
1. Know What You Want
Before you even start a renovation project, make sure you know what it is that you want. If you blindly go into a renovation project, you may not address the areas of the bathroom that you initially wanted to and you may find that you are unhappy with a piece of the project that was completed.
Make sure you sit down and think about the different components of your bathroom and what you want to change. For example, is the tub staying or going? What about the toilet? Did you want to change your fixtures? These are all things to think about and add to the list.
2. Check the Product Availability
It cannot be stressed enough to find out whether or not the products you want are available. If you tear apart your bathroom and trash the old items, what will you do if your vanity is not available?
You have a couple of options when it comes to this type of situation. First, you can purchase the items you like when you see them and keep them on hand until your renovation date. If you do not want to do that, you can pick out a few different options, therefore, if one item is not available, it is likely that one of the other two are.
3. Obstacles Will Arise
When it comes to the planning process, you need to make sure that you are covering all the bases and making adjustments in case obstacles arise. If an obstacle does come up, you will be prepared for it and you will be able to move past it without any fear or hesitation.
4. How the Day Goes
One of the things that most homeowners forget to account for is how the day will go and what the people in the home will do. For example, if you have children and pets, you should plan for them to go somewhere for the day, so that they are not in the way as a renovation project area can be dangerous.
If you are having your bathroom remodeled soon, it helps to sit down and map out a plan for the big day. You do not want to be taken by surprise when anything comes up and you want to always be prepared for anything that may arise.
