Large base and wall end open shelf cabinet

Adding more storage space to your kitchen or bathroom does not have to be complicated.

Along with the wall end shelf cabinet, this is probably the easiest do-it-yourself piece you will ever put together. Even if you are a complete novice, you should have no problem with it. In fact, it will not take more than 15 minutes of your time to complete.

This large shelf is a versatile storage option that can be used in a number of ways either in your bathroom or kitchen.

To assemble the wall end shelf cabinet you will only need the following tools:

  • A small rubber mallet.

  • A Phillips No 2 screwdriver or similar sized drill screwdriver attachment.

Begin by removing all the contents of the pre-packed cabinet box. Even though there are not many pieces here, it pays to keep everything neat and tidy, so separate the wooden frame parts, the shelves, the toe kickbox and the various screws that you will use during the construction of the cabinet.

You will require a fair amount of space to build this piece, but if you have a big enough table, you could construct the cabinet on that. Don’t forget to cover the table in newspaper or with a blanket to avoid damage or surface scratches. Better yet, use the cardboard material the cabinet came in as a cover for your table. If you do not have a large enough table, use an open space on the floor.

No drilling will be necessary during the construction of the cabinet as everything is pre-drilled for you, making everything far easier and certainly less messy.

Begin by placing the back section of the cabinet down on your chosen work surface. Now attach one side of the cabinet using the screws provided. A simple way to do this is to place one piece flat on the surface and the other on the side of it, forming an “L” shape before screwing them together. Always be very careful when tightening the screws. Do not over tighten them as this may cause the wood to crack. Turn them just enough so they will not come loose and the cabinet remains rigid.

Next, attach the shelves. They have grooves cut out for the exact area where they must be fastened. Start with the bottom shelf and move up. Screw everything carefully into place to ensure the screws do not miss the shelves and piece through the framework of the cabinet. Take your time here and do everything in a methodical manner.

Lastly, you need to construct the toe kickbox. This is simply joining four small pieces of wood using the dowels and cam screws provided. Do not forget to lock it in place with a half turn on every lock screw. Do not turn the lock screws too far as this could cause them to crack the wood. The kick box is then attached to the bottom of your cabinet.

Congratulations, your large wall end open shelf kitchne cabinet is complete!
