How to Choose the Perfect Bathroom Vanity
The vanity in your bathroom is more than just a piece of furniture. In fact, there is function to it and if you choose the wrong one, you could alter the look of your bathroom and you may find that you are unhappy with the storage space you have.
There are some things that you need to keep in mind when you do choose your vanity and we will explore some of these things below.
1. Accurate Measurements
First and foremost, you need to figure out how much room you actually have to work with. To help you determine the right size vanity for your bathroom, you need to take accurate measurements of the area. If you purchase the wrong size vanity, you will quickly find that you have trouble moving around in the bathroom or you may need to go out and buy a new one to ensure the bathroom is balanced correctly.
Once you know the size of the vanity you need, you will want to explore some of the vanities that fit within this size range. It is not uncommon for homeowners to want a double sink, but if you do not have the space for it, you do not want to force it to fit.
2. Number of Cabinets and Drawers
Next, you need to think about how much cabinet space you want. Some vanities are basic in style and they will only come with a lower cabinet and nothing else while others many have multiple cabinet doors and drawers.
Think about how much you want to be able to store inside of the vanity and then determine a suitable number of drawers and cabinets.
3. Vanity Height
Now, it is time to consider how tall you want your vanity to be. There are some vanities that are tall and some that are much shorter, which may be ideal in a bathroom where you know kids will mainly be using it.
The standard vanity size is about 31 inches, so you should consider the average height of everyone in the home and then base the height of the vanity on that number. Usually, 31 inches is tall enough without being too tall.
4. Color and Materials
The finish and color of your vanity is important and should never be overlooked either. When choosing the color, make sure you choose something that matches your bathroom décor. If you do not have bathroom décor yet, choose a color or finish that is versatile; that way, you do not have a hard time finding décor to match it. In addition, make sure you consider the type of material the vanity is made out of as well. The most common type of material is wood, but you can choose glass as well.
The Vanity Determines The Look
If you are remodeling your bathroom, your vanity is more important than you may think it is and it plays a huge role in the way your bathroom looks. When choosing the vanity you want, take the above four things into consideration, as they will help you make the right choice.
