Coming up with a stunning all-white kitchen design may look simple, but it’s not. When this design concept is not properly executed, the kitchen can look so dull and boring. White can be applied on the countertops, flooring, ceiling, appliances and cabinetry to pull off the look. But in order to come up with a warm/inviting look and feel, you need to choose the materials, lighting and texture wisely. We’ll share with you a few ideas to make an all-white kitchen of your dreams.
Use different shades of white
One thing that makes all-white kitchens look dull and flat is the use of a single shade of white. You can mix three to four different shades of white. Just make sure you place them on different areas of the room. Doing this adds dimension and interest to the kitchen.
Incorporate materials that make a statement
Whether it’s a unique countertop finish or a backsplash with a nice texture, you need to have materials that instantly make a statement in the room. But make sure you limit the materials with a lot of movement. For instance, you can use marble on the countertop only and then opt for subtle materials on the other surfaces.
Use materials with different textures
To add some visual character and appeal to the room, choose materials that have varying textures. For instance, you can mix shiny and matte materials or smooth and rough materials in your all-white kitchen. Doing this tends to add some depth to the room. You can add textures in other elements such as pendant lights to bring out a strong visual statement.
Throw in some accent colors
It’s ok to play around with a few bold colors in your all-white kitchen design. But don’t go for too many contrasting colors, a maximum of three is recommended. You can add some color in the seating, countertop, backsplash, hardware or even rugs. You may even use lighting to add some color and give the room a friendly vibe while keeping it white and bright.
Make the room bright and airy with natural light
There are so many ways to take advantage of natural light in your all-white kitchen. Whether it’s installing a window backsplash or using skylight, you can make the space airy by allowing lots of light to filter in throughout the day. The light then reflects all around the space and into the nearby rooms.
Make the kitchen island stand out
You can use a different color or material on your kitchen counter to make it stand out from other work surfaces. Choosing a different counter color and material also helps to break the monotony of white in the room. It gives the eyes some resting place and creates a nice focal point.
Replace existing hardware
Changing hardware such as the cabinet knobs and pulls can elevate an all-white kitchen and give a significant improvement in its overall appearance. Hardware, especially on the cabinetry and other areas like the faucets can give the all-white kitchen a nice finishing touch.
