This blank and boring kitchen lit up after a major remodel. When we first saw this place, we knew we wouldn’t need to pull down many things in order to freshen it up. We certainly felt that paint could easily light up the room.
Changing the colors of the cabinetry to white opened up the place and made it appear bigger than it actually is. There are certain things in the kitchen that we left intact such as the range hood but we knew this client needed a new refrigerator that blended with the rest of the space.
We added extra storage space
More storage area was on top of the client’s wish list. We knew we had to factor this into the remodel project. We reviewed the previous layout and saw good opportunities to fit additional cabinetry. Adding an extra countertop beside the refrigerator not only created some bench preparation area but also added some under bench storage. We also included some overhead cabinetry to make the best use of the wall space. You can also see some pull out shelves in those narrow spaces besides the range hood. This homeowner was certainly happy to have all those spots to store items in the new kitchen.
Sleek, modern lines
This kitchen was transformed from a more traditional style to sleek and contemporary design. Since the rest of the home featured modern and sleek elements like stainless steel and glass, we had to make the kitchen look the part. Our interior designers really helped to refine the space by choosing the nitty gritty details that made a lot of difference.
We changed the color scheme
We knew changing the color scheme would make a big difference and it did. From the traditional brown shades to a mix of white and gray, the final color scheme was stunning and blended perfectly with the rest of the home. We ensured the areas such as the backsplash complemented the countertop to give the room a contemporary appeal. We also included unique hardware that matches well with the appliances.
Appliances are key
In any modern kitchen, appliances are a huge part of its overall design. You don’t have to replace all the appliances in order to revamp your cookhouse as you can see from the before and after photos. The range remained intact but we had to recommend the owner to invest in a new fridge. Not only did the owner invest in an energy efficient fridge but also one that complements the new design.
Don’t forget the stunning backsplash
If there’s one thing that added character and personality in the new kitchen, it has to be the backsplash. We selected tiles that are not only nicely installed and stunning to look at but also very easy to keep clean and maintain.
Overall the client loved the new space and considered it a great investment considering the entire remodel only costed an average of $30,000.
