It’s Your Choice: Types of Bathroom Faucets

Remodeling your bathroom is a big move and there are many choices that you will have to make throughout the process. One of the big decisions you will need to make is the type of faucet that you want to have in your bathroom. While you may have thought there was only one or two types, there are actually a few more than that and each one offers a different experience in your bathroom. Ready to learn more about the types available? Let’s take a look at them now.

1. Center Set Faucet

A center set faucet is one where the handle and the faucet spout are simply one piece. Typically, you will have the spout in the center of the sink and there will be a handle on each side of the spout. One side controls the cold water temperature and the other side, the hot water.

This is the most common type of sink faucet that is found in most homes and it is common in both the bathroom and the kitchen.

2. Vessel Faucet

A vessel faucet is designed to work with a vessel sink, which is a sink that sits on top of the counter itself. The bowl for the faucet is not set within the vanity, but it sits on top. The spot for the vessel faucet is tall in nature and works well with all vessel sinks, but not with traditional sinks. The faucet comes with a single handle that allows you to control the water.

3. Wall Mounted Faucet

A wall mounted faucet is just that – mounted onto the wall behind the sink. It is important that you choose a wall mounted option that works with your sink, otherwise, you will have a mess on your hands.

Typically, you will need to place the faucet spout in a specific range to prevent splashing of water.

4. Single Handle Faucet

The single handle faucet is one where the spout is connected to the mechanism that allows you to control the water temperature. On this type of faucet, you will move the handle one way or another to adjust the temperature. These types of faucets are also quite popular and are commonly found in homes.

One of the unique features with these faucets is that you can program some of them to detect when you have placed your hands under the faucet.

5. Widespread Faucet

A widespread faucet is similar to the center set faucet, except that the widespread is not a single piece. There are actually three different holes drilled into the sink to allow for the spout and handles. You can actually place the handles farther apart with this option and you can choose to have a single handle or double handles.

If you are ready to remodel your bathroom, consider the type of faucet that you want. All of the ones listed above are ideal for residential bathrooms, but it is important to make sure that you pick the best one that will work with the space you have.
